This town was formed in 1998 from Little Current, Howland Township and most of the small islands around Manitoulin. Little Current is the largest community on the island and its main shopping and boating centre, with a long downtown dock on the North Channel. Sheguiandah and Green Bay are rural communities to the south, and Rockville is near Lake Manitou. Waterfront choices include North Channel shoreline, bays on the Georgian Bay side and private island lots.
