Cottages and waterfront in St. Joseph
St. Joseph Township was incorporated in 1876 and covers the north part of St. Joseph Island, including the bridge from the mainland. Richards Landing is the island's business centre, with a marina, grocery store, restaurants and a small hospital. Highway 548 loops around the whole island. Cottages and year-round homes line the shore facing the North Channel and the St. Marys River. The island is known across Ontario for its maple syrup.
