Cottages and waterfront in Sault Ste. Marie
Sault Ste. Marie received its city charter in 1912 and sits on the north bank of the St. Marys River, across from its twin city in Michigan. It is the western service centre for this region, with a hospital, airport and full shopping. Waterfront inside the city is mostly year-round riverfront housing. Many local families keep camps outside the city, on the Lake Superior shore to the north and on St. Joseph Island to the east.
