What Georgian Bay is like
Georgian Bay is big enough to feel like a lake of its own. The south shore in Simcoe and Grey has sand beaches, harbour towns and ski hills behind the water. The east shore, through Muskoka and Parry Sound, is the Thirty Thousand Islands, with granite, pine and many boat-access cottages. The west shore follows the cliffs of the Bruce Peninsula to Tobermory. The water is clear and cool, and open stretches can get rough, so sheltered bays are prized.
