Innisfil began as a community of seasonal homes for Toronto families, and most of its lakeshore cottages have since become year-round houses. The shoreline runs through Big Bay Point, Sandy Cove, Alcona, Belle Ewart, Lefroy and Gilford, with public access at Innisfil Beach. Friday Harbour, a resort community with a marina, opened on Big Bay Point in 2017. Buyers get a short drive, municipal services in many areas and good ice fishing in winter.
