What Lake Simcoe is like
Lake Simcoe is the closest big cottage lake to Toronto. Its Simcoe County shore runs from Innisfil through Barrie and Oro-Medonte to Orillia and Ramara, while the south and east shores are in York and Durham regions. Most of the shoreline is settled, with a mix of older cottages, large rebuilt homes and resort communities, nearly all on year-round roads. The lake is known for boating, lake trout, whitefish and perch fishing, and a busy ice fishing season.
