Cottages and waterfront in Elliot Lake
Elliot Lake began as a uranium mining town in the 1950s and became a city in 1990. After the mines closed it promoted itself as a retirement community. It sits roughly midway between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, reached by Highway 108. The city boundary takes in a lot of bush and water, and waterfront cottage lots have been developed on several lakes. Mississagi Provincial Park is to the north, and there is a small ski hill.
