What Lake Manitou is like
Lake Manitou covers 104 square kilometres in the east half of Manitoulin Island. It is the deepest lake on the island, and that cold, deep water supports lake trout along with bass, whitefish, pickerel and pike. The Manitou River drains it south to Lake Huron. Cottages and a few lodges are spread around a long, irregular shoreline, with road access from Sandfield, Rockville and the Manitowaning side. Mindemoya and Manitowaning are the nearest supply points.
