What Madawaska River is like
The Madawaska rises in Algonquin Park and falls about 380 m on its way to Arnprior. It is one of the main tributaries of the Ottawa River. Bark Lake, Kamaniskeg Lake, Centennial Lake, Black Donald Lake and Calabogie Lake are all part of it. Five generating stations stand on it. The free-flowing stretches, protected as the Upper and Lower Madawaska River provincial parks, are popular whitewater canoe routes. River cottages are found near Combermere, Palmer Rapids, Griffith and Burnstown.
