What Black Donald Lake is like
Black Donald Lake covers about 34 square kilometres and is roughly 12 km long. It was flooded in 1966 when the Mountain Chute dam was completed, covering the old mining village of Black Donald Mines. The lake forms part of the boundary between Greater Madawaska and North Frontenac. Centennial Lake joins it upstream at the same level, so boaters can travel between the two. Shores are steep and wooded with scattered cottages. Calabogie is the nearest village for supplies.
