What Bonnechere River is like
The Bonnechere River starts in Algonquin Park and flows through Round Lake and Golden Lake before dropping over five historic chutes. Those are at Eganville, Fourth Chute, Douglas, Renfrew and Castleford, where the river meets the Ottawa. The Bonnechere Caves, cut into old limestone, are beside the river at Fourth Chute. Riverfront homes and cottages are scattered along the quieter reaches between the chutes. Most are year-round properties on rural lots, close to Eganville or Renfrew.
