Cottages and waterfront in Bonnechere Valley
Bonnechere Valley was formed in 2001 from the village of Eganville and the townships of Grattan, Sebastopol and South Algona. Eganville sits on the Bonnechere River, which cuts a limestone valley through the village. Lake Clear, in the hills to the south, is the main cottage lake. The south shore of Golden Lake is also in the township, beside the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation. Eganville has groceries and other basics. Renfrew and Pembroke are the nearest larger towns.
