Cottages and waterfront in Whitewater Region
Whitewater Region was formed in 2001 from Cobden, Beachburg and the townships of Ross and Westmeath. It takes its name from the rapids of the Ottawa River near Foresters Falls and Beachburg, which draw rafters and kayakers. Cobden sits on Muskrat Lake, a long, deep lake with more than 300 lakefront properties. Elsewhere the Ottawa River offers calm, wide water near Westmeath and La Passe. Away from the water the land is mostly farms.
