What Upper Rideau Lake is like
Upper Rideau is the highest water on the canal. Boats arrive from Newboro Lake through Newboro lock and leave for Big Rideau through the Narrows lock. Granite along the north shore marks the Rideau Lake Fault, and Foley Mountain rises above Westport. The lake reaches about 23 m deep. Cottages and year-round homes line both shores, with easy runs to Westport for supplies. Water quality has been a concern in the past, so ask about recent lake association reports.
