What Sand Lake is like
Sand Lake sits between two of the best-known lock stations on the canal. Davis Lock at the north end connects it to Opinicon Lake, and the flight of locks at Jones Falls is at the south end, beside the great stone arch dam. The main shoreline is about 35 km around, and the water reaches about 15 m deep. Roughly two thirds of the shore has cottages and summer homes, and the rest is natural. Elgin is the closest village.
