Cottages and waterfront in McMurrich/Monteith
McMurrich/Monteith was created in 1998 by joining McMurrich Township with the eastern part of Monteith. Sprucedale, on Highway 518, is the main community. The township has many small lakes, among them Bear Lake, Axe Lake, Buck Lake and Horn Lake, where the Seguin River begins. Cottages are modest and widely spaced, and the pace is slower than on the big lakes to the south. Huntsville and Burk's Falls are the nearest larger centres.
