What Lake Wanapitei is like
Lake Wanapitei is one of the largest lakes in the world that lies entirely inside a single city. Part of its basin is an impact crater about 37 million years old. The water is big, deep and open, so it behaves more like a small inland sea than a typical cottage lake. Skead and Boland's Bay on the south shore hold most of the homes and camps, and the lake is in the traditional territory of Wahnapitae First Nation.
