About the lake

What Severn River is like

The Severn River drains Lake Couchiching to Georgian Bay and carries the final leg of the Trent-Severn Waterway. It runs about 30 km from Washago through Sparrow Lake, past Swift Rapids and the Big Chute Marine Railway, to Port Severn. For much of its length it marks the line between Severn Township and Muskoka. Cottages range from road-access places near Severn Falls and Port Severn to boat-access properties on quieter reaches of the river.
