What Sturgeon River is like
The Sturgeon River rises near Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park and reaches Lake Nipissing a few kilometres below Sturgeon Falls. The Temagami and Tomiko rivers are among its tributaries. In West Nipissing it passes the community of Field and then the power dam in Sturgeon Falls. River lots and rural homes line the lower reaches. The river flooded Field and the centre of Sturgeon Falls in 1979, so check floodplain mapping before buying on its banks.
