What Esson Lake is like
Esson Lake is in the former Monmouth Township, a few minutes from Wilberforce. It is a quieter lake than those near Haliburton village and is known for clear water, lake trout and bass. A public boat launch is at the south end. Wilberforce covers basics, and Haliburton village is about a 20 minute drive for bigger shops. The old Irondale, Bancroft and Ottawa Railway line, now a trail, passes through the Wilberforce area.
