Cottages and waterfront in Merrickville-Wolford
Merrickville grew up around three Rideau Canal locks and a stone blockhouse, and its main street of nineteenth-century buildings draws visitors all summer. Waterfront in the municipality is Rideau River frontage, some of it on wide, slow reaches that are good for pontoon boats and paddling. Most properties are year-round homes, not seasonal cottages. The river is part of the canal, so Parks Canada rules apply to docks and shoreline work. Kemptville and Smiths Falls are the nearest larger towns.
