The Township of Athens was formed in 2001 from the village of Athens and the Township of Rear of Yonge and Escott. Its cottage draw is the north end of Charleston Lake, reached through the hamlet of Charleston. Properties here include island cottages, shoreline camps and year-round homes on the access roads. The village of Athens, known for its outdoor murals, has a high school and everyday services. Brockville is the nearest city for larger shopping trips.
