Edwardsburgh/Cardinal fronts the St. Lawrence east of Prescott. Johnstown is at the Canadian end of the international bridge to Ogdensburg, New York, and at the south end of Highway 416 to Ottawa. Cardinal is an old canal village farther downriver. Waterfront here is open river frontage, mostly year-round homes with some older cottages. It is quieter and less touristed than the Thousand Islands stretch. Spencerville, inland, is the main village in the old Edwardsburgh township.
