About the lake

What Tay River is like

The Tay River leaves Bobs Lake near Bolingbroke, passes through Christie Lake and Glen Tay, and splits into two channels in downtown Perth. Below town, the Tay Canal carries boats about 10 km to Lower Rideau Lake through the Beveridges locks. River properties are mostly year-round homes and hobby farms. Above Perth the water is shallow and best for canoes and kayaks. The township keeps a public swimming area at Glen Tay.
