What Mississippi Lake is like
Mississippi Lake is about 16 km long and less than a kilometre wide in most places. The river enters through the Innisville wetland at the west end and leaves over the dam in Carleton Place. The north side sits on Canadian Shield rock and the rest is mostly limestone. More than 1,000 homes and several campground resorts line the shore, so expect boat traffic on summer weekends. A national wildlife area protects part of the Innisville wetland.
