Cottages and waterfront in Beckwith
Beckwith is where a large share of Mississippi Lake waterfront is found. Lake Park, Gardiner Shore, Petrie Shore and Tennyson are long-established shore communities, and many former cottages have been rebuilt as year-round homes. The lake is shallow, at most about 10 m deep, and warms early in summer. Away from the water the township is flat farmland on clay left by the Champlain Sea. Carleton Place is next door for shopping, and Ottawa is a practical daily commute.
