Cottages and waterfront in Essex
The Town of Essex was created in 1999 from the towns of Essex and Harrow and the two Colchester townships. Its lake side is the old Colchester South shore, where Colchester has a harbour and public beach. A string of small beach communities runs along the water, among them Oxley, Levergood Beach, Lypps Beach and Seymour Beach. Wineries line the county road behind the shore. Harrow is the closest town for shopping.
