Cottages and waterfront in Mississippi Mills
Mississippi Mills was formed in 1998 from the town of Almonte and the townships of Ramsay and Pakenham. The Mississippi River drops through Almonte, where it once powered woollen mills, and passes under the five-arch stone bridge at Pakenham. River frontage is the main waterfront type, from in-town lots to rural acreages near Appleton and Blakeney. Clayton Lake, at the village of Clayton, is the local cottage lake. Mount Pakenham offers downhill skiing, which helps make this a four-season area.
