What Mitchell Lake is like
Mitchell Lake was formed in the early 1900s when the area was flooded during construction of the waterway and the Kirkfield Lift Lock. Most of it is only about 1 to 2 m deep, and old tree stumps remain under the surface outside the marked channel. Cottages are fairly sparse. It suits paddlers, anglers and people who want to watch boats pass. The village of Victoria Road is nearby.
