What Canal Lake is like
Canal Lake is the first lake east of Lake Simcoe on the Trent-Severn Waterway. It lies between the Kirkfield Lift Lock and Lock 37 at Bolsover. The lake is shallow, with a maximum depth of about 4.6 m, and the water level is lowered each winter. The 1905 concrete arch bridge known as the Hole in the Wall is a National Historic Site. Largemouth bass, pike and muskie are present.
