What Maitland River is like
The Maitland rises in Wellington County and runs through Harriston, Wingham and Auburn before reaching Lake Huron at Goderich. From Auburn down it is the boundary between Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh and Central Huron. The lower river has a run of trout and salmon and is popular with anglers and paddlers. It was once called the Menesetung. Riverfront property is mostly rural homes and acreages in the valley, with a few hamlets such as Benmiller.
