What Lake Scugog is like
Lake Scugog owes its present size to a dam built on the Scugog River at Lindsay in the 1830s, which raised the water and created Scugog Island. It is very shallow, warm and rich in fish, with largemouth bass, crappie and muskie the main draws. The Scugog River flows out north to Sturgeon Lake, linking the lake to the Trent-Severn Waterway. Homes and cottages line much of the shore around Port Perry, Scugog Island and Caesarea.
