Cottages and waterfront in Algonquin Highlands
Algonquin Highlands has no single commercial centre. Its largest community is Dorset, which it shares with the Township of Lake of Bays in Muskoka. Highway 35 runs north through the township past Boshkung, Halls and Kushog lakes. Buyers find deep, cold lakes, a lot of Crown land and long stretches of forest shoreline. Water-access and island properties are common on the larger lakes, including Kawagama. Carnarvon and Minden are the nearest places for groceries.
