What Papineau Lake is like
Papineau Lake is one of the deeper lakes in Hastings County. About a quarter of the land around it is Crown land, so parts of the shore stay natural. Davis Island is the large island in the lake. The township keeps a small day-use beach on the southeast side with a wide, shallow area that suits young children. The lake is roughly 40 minutes from Bancroft, so most owners stock up before they arrive.
