Today's City of Kenora joined the former towns of Kenora and Keewatin with the Township of Jaffray Melick. Keewatin is the westernmost part of the city, and Jaffray Melick, the most rural part, reaches Black Sturgeon Lake. The city has Lake of the Woods District Hospital, a Confederation College campus and an airport for charter and private flights, and its population nearly doubles each summer.
