The town sits on the English River and Lac Seul water system, where walleye, northern pike and smallmouth bass are the main catch. Its airport is the busiest between Thunder Bay and Winnipeg, VIA Rail's Canadian stops here, and the Meno-Ya-Win Health Centre serves the town and 29 northern communities.
