Ramara waterfront open houses
Open houses along Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching in Ramara Township, from Lagoon City and Brechin to Atherley and Longford Mills.
Big lake, canals and a narrower lake to the north
Ramara runs along the northeast shore of Lake Simcoe and then follows the east side of Lake Couchiching toward Washago, with Lake St. John near Longford Mills. Beach communities such as Bayshore Village and Brechin Beach face the big lake, while Lagoon City is built around canals, with boat slips close to the door.
Lake Simcoe is a large, open lake, so exposure matters. At an open house, notice which way the lot faces, how the shoreline has stood up to wind and ice, and whether any break wall or shoreline protection was approved; shoreline work in the Lake Simcoe watershed is reviewed by the conservation authority under the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan. In Lagoon City, ask who is responsible for the canal wall in front of the property and what condition it is in.
Services vary from one community to the next, so ask whether a property is on municipal water and sewer or a private well and septic system before you write an offer. Most Ramara waterfront has road access, which makes it one of the easier cottage areas to tour on a day trip from the GTA.

It’s a long drive to see a cottage. Don’t make it alone.
A cottage open house is a few hours on a Saturday, often a long way from home, and the listing rarely tells you what matters most at the water. Ask one of our preferred realtors who are cottage and waterfront specialists to meet you there, walk the property with you and ask the questions you would otherwise think of on the drive home.
